Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the timetable for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) 1 examination 2025 at upsc.gov.in. The exam will be held in three shifts on April 13.
The first shift will be from 9 am to 11 am during which candidates will appear for the English paper.

In the second shift from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, they will attempt the General Knowledge paper and in the third shift (4 pm to 6 pm) they will write the Elementary Mathematics paper.

UPSC CDS is held for admission to the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and the Officers’ Training Academy. This year, the exam is being held for 457 vacancies.
Those seeking admission to the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy have to attempt all three papers, while for admission to the Officers’ Training Academy, only English and General Knowledge papers are required.

The papers on all the subjects will consist of objective-type questions only. The question papers of General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics will be set bilingually in Hindi and English.
Wherever necessary, questions will be set using only the metric system of weights and measures.
Candidates are not permitted to take the help of a scribe during the CDS examination. They are also not permitted to use calculators for answering objective-type papers.
The standard of the papers in Elementary Mathematics will be at the Matriculation (Class 10) level. The standard of papers in other subjects will approximately be such as may be expected of a graduate of an Indian university.
The English paper will contain questions designed to test candidates’ understanding of English and workmanlike use of words.
General Knowledge, including knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects, will be set as per what is expected from an educated person without a special study of any scientific subject.
The paper will also have questions on the History of India and Geography.
